For Your Heart

Love is a Key Ingredient in Your Heart's Medicine.  Now is a great time to give yourself a dose.

While navigating unfamiliar terrain, with the coexistence of many emotions all at once, and the slow re-opening/re-integration back into the world, what I really want to know is:

How is your heart?

Is it open? Closed? Numb? Racing? Fluttering? Warm? Cold? Tense? Heavy? Broken? Shattered? Rejected? Is your chest tight? Is your heart in need of tender, loving care? Is it in need of mending/repair? None of these? All of these?

I caught my heart in the act of wanting to close in response to very sad news the other day as a means of protection.  It was simply an old defense mechanism.  And all that did was just make the heaviness worse...doing nothing for me except closing me off from my own source of love and generosity.

I asked myself what the fear was in keeping it open.  I was afraid of inviting in even more pain than I can handle.  I was afraid that the grief and sadness would come into my heart and rob all the love and joy that exists there like a thief in the night.  But it was simply the fear that maintained that very tension in my heart. Nothing else.

If there is any such fear in you, I want you to know that It is possible to genuinely share love and compassion with yourself and others without being weighed down or drained by their pain AND while maintaining your own sense of joy.

You can trust your heart as it knows intuitively how to respond, and has its own discernment.  An open heart is not an invitation to more pain.  Rather, it creates space for more love and flow while moving through the pain.  While the pain moves through you.

We are meant to acknowledge and feel it all fully, and allow it to move through us. Flow of energy needs to happen within for optimal health and wellness.

With your heart open, you can guide yourself through the unknown. It is your compass.

With your heart partially open, you will remain partially informed. Partially alive. Partially connected. Partially fulfilled. Partially open to receiving. Partially loving and loved. Partially compassionate. Partially authentic. Partially generous. Partially forgiving. Partially wise. Partially beautiful. Partially radiant. Partially transformed. Partially expansive. Partially inspiring. Partially powerful. And Partially impactful.

What does the collective world look and feel like when disconnected from the full capacity of the heart? Is that the contribution you desire and are meant to offer the world?  If not, Nourish and infuse your heart with your own love to be the full expression of you.

Knowing that your precious, tender heart has been through a lot, ask its permission to see if it wants to be open. Ask if it is ready. The heart is not something that wants to be pryed or forced open with a crow bar.  It naturally unfolds in the safety of your own love.

If your answer is yes, then the next question is "How?"

How can you be even more loving and generous with yourself, and therefore others? How can you continue to generate your own medicine from within?

Here is a guided exercise to start with to build your reserve of love back up, while softening and healing your own heart.  Then allow your discernment to show you where and when to share it.

  • Close your eyes and breathe.  Breathe into your heart space.  Bringing your presence and attention there for a few moments just airing it out and giving it space.Feel your heart filling and expanding on the inhale, feel it relaxing and releasing on the exhale for a few moments.

  • Then feel the crown of your head opening.

  • Envision a golden white light coming in from above and entering into your heart.

  • Washing every cell in its path with pure divine love.  Cleansing, purifying and hydrating your heart.

  • Now feel the back of your heart opening emanating the love within.

  • Feeling the love of your own heart flowing into the rest of your body.

  • Feel it filling all of your vital organs.

  • Feel it filling your eyes so you see with eyes of love.

  • Feel it filling your ears so you listen with love.

  • Feel it filling your mouth so you speak with love.

  • Feel it filling your hands so you touch and create with love.

  • Feel it filling your legs so you can stand in alignment with love and walk authentically in your power.

  • Feel it filling your entire being and overflowing around you.

  • Then create a few moments of silence to listen to and allow your heart to reveal whatever it is that it wants you to know.

Thank your beautiful heart participating and sharing its love with your entire body.

May you feel safe enough to open and share your heart.  May you find your way back to love.  May you find your way back home.  May you remember the essence of who you are. And May you remember how powerful you are...with ease.
