Our Egos Can Use A Little Reassurance Right Now

When you are on the cusp of change (the unfamiliar), your ego will feel threatened, unsafe, and act out.

When I refer to the ego, I am not using it in the same context as "this person has a big ego."

I have a different understanding and perception of what the ego is and would like to highlight that.

The ego is a system of beliefs and concepts that is formed at the time of your birth.

It is based on fears, illusions, and separation that which becomes familiar to you for the rest of your life...but is also your very own personal survival system.

It is designed to keep you alive...so it will keep you in a place with people, situations, and patterns that are familiar... whether you like/enjoy it or not.

This is how it protects you, and knows you will live, and this is its job.

So, when you are on the brink of something new, evolving out of immature patterns/habits/addictions, and/or some version of transformation, expect your ego to speak up and act out...because you are moving in a direction of what is unfamiliar and it does NOT know if you will survive...it is now threatened and on high alert.

How do you work with it?

Remember that it is a scared child and talk to it lovingly. Reassure it.

Let it know that you are safe. Let it know that you are aware of the changes that are happening, and that while it is scary, it is also very exciting.
And let it know that you are not trying to get rid of it. You just want it to stretch, grow and be a part of the new with you.

Please remember that your ego is not your enemy.

It is not meant to be destroyed, annihilated, or killed.

It is meant to be reassured, transcended, and healed so it can come along for the ride and remain as one of your main protectors...but in a healthier, more mature version.
